As 2025 comes to a close, I want to pause before rushing into goals, resolutions, and plans for the year ahead.
So much of the world is already racing ahead with resolutions and goals. Yet, the body doesn’t move in quarters or calendar years. It moves in seasons. Rhythms. Sacred cycles of work and rest. As a pelvic floor physical therapist and mother, I see this often: women attempting to “reset” without ever allowing themselves to rest first. But true renewal doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from allowing the nervous system to exhale.
This year taught me profound lessons about health, motherhood, business, and what it truly means to trust the process — especially when life unfolds differently than planned.
I invite you to reflect alongside me, friend!

Motherhood Lessons: Learning to Let Go of Control
In 2025, I moved through pregnancy, birth, and the transition into postpartum once again. This fourth pregnancy was not planned in the way I envisioned. While we always hoped to grow our family, the timing came earlier than expected and coincided with major life transitions, including the start of building our forever home.
As someone who tends to plan carefully and control what I can, this year required me to release expectations. The house wasn’t ready. The timeline shifted. The vision I once had needed to be softened.
This experience reminded me that motherhood often asks us to surrender — not because we are failing, but because growth sometimes happens outside of our carefully constructed plans. If you found yourself needing to let go of control this year, especially around pregnancy, family planning, or postpartum expectations, you’re not alone.
Building a Home and Navigating Transitions
Another major chapter of 2025 was beginning the process of building our family home! Breaking ground later than expected meant welcoming our baby before the home was finished… a humbling reminder that life rarely aligns perfectly.
This season taught me patience and flexibility. It also deepened my appreciation for creating spaces — physical and emotional — that prioritize health, safety, and long-term wellbeing. I’ve spent countless hours researching non-toxic materials, sustainable choices, and practical ways to balance health-conscious decisions with real-life budgets.
This is an area I’ll continue sharing more about in 2026, especially for families navigating renovations or healthier home environments. The learning has been ongoing and incredibly eye-opening.
The Holistically Well Podcast: Consistency and Connection
In April 2025, I launched the Holistically Well Podcast with the intention of creating a space for deeper, more meaningful conversations about women’s health, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and whole-family wellness.
So much health information today lives in short clips that lack context. I wanted to slow things down. My intention has been to create room for education that feels thoughtful and trustworthy.
What surprised me most this year was hearing from listeners! Your reviews, messages, and reflections reminded me why this work matters. Even knowing that one episode helped someone feel less alone made every recording worthwhile.
If there’s one thing this season has reinforced, it’s the quiet power of consistency! Showing up regularly fosters this beautiful trust that offers steady rhythm in a world that can feel a little scattered at times.
Growing a Women-Centered Physical Therapy Practice
2025 was also a year of growth inside my physical therapy practice. After initially shifting to virtual care, I realized how much I missed in-person, hands-on work. Opening our holistic physical therapy office in Sidney, Ohio, and expanding the team allowed us to better serve women locally and around the world virtually!
Hiring other women, particularly mothers, reinforced something I deeply believe: healthcare providers thrive when burnout is not the expectation.
Our practice focuses on root-cause care, whole-body evaluations, and sustainable healing strategies. Women consistently share how meaningful it feels to be heard, supported, and treated as more than a single symptom. Gosh, I’m getting emotional reading this because this has always been the dream. This year has only reaffirmed my commitment to a holistic approach to physical therapy and women’s health!
Clinical Insights from 2025
One of the most common themes we saw this year was women feeling unheard or dismissed in traditional healthcare settings. This further validated our focus on:
- Root-cause evaluations
- Nervous system regulation
- Pelvic floor care that considers the whole body
- Sustainable routines for busy women
I also completed advanced training in internal pelvic floor assessment and treatment, expanding the tools we can offer when appropriate! Combined with dry needling and holistic movement strategies, this allows for more individualized and effective care in Sidney, Ohio.
Preparing for Postpartum with Intention
As I step into postpartum once again, I’m reminded how much preparation matters. The work we do before pregnancy and during pregnancy directly influences postpartum recovery. I’ve seen this time and time again in my patients — and now again in my own body.
One of the greatest gifts I gave myself was creating the Holistically Well Postpartum Program before I needed it. Being able to simply press play and follow a plan rooted in what works has allowed me to rest, recover, and trust the process.
What I’m Carrying Into 2026
As I look ahead, I’m carrying several intentions with me!
- Letting go of what I cannot control
- Focusing on what I can control
- Simplifying routines and expectations
- Prioritizing rest as a form of healing
- Trusting the team I’ve built and the systems in place
I’m also continuing to show up — on the podcast, in the clinic, and in your inbox — to support women through every stage of health, motherhood, and life transitions.
An Invitation to Reflect
Before you set goals for the new year, I invite you to gently reflect on 2025.
What did this year ask of you?
What did you learn about your body, your capacity, or your needs?
Where did you grow… even if it didn’t feel comfortable at the time?
If you’re preparing for pregnancy, currently pregnant, or navigating postpartum, support is available.
Take a moment. Sit with this year. Honor what carried you here. When you’re ready, we’ll move forward together.
