By this point, you have likely heard about Beautycounter going under. With Beautycounter gone… now what? This post is all about diving into clean beauty for busy moms. After using Beautycounter personally and recommending to clients due to their clean ingredients, it’s time I address this… and provide some alternatives for you!
So why is clean beauty important, anyways?
The US does not regulate ingredients used in our skincare and household products. This leads to many body-care products being filled with chemicals that mimic hormones in our body, increasing inflammation and disrupting hormone health. Which, as women, can lead to cycle irregularity, increased perimenopause symptoms, infertility, birth defects, painful periods or lack thereof, autoimmune conditions and more.
^^^ THAT is why I care about what we put into and on our body. As a busy mom, this can be challenging! So, I’ve taken the clean beauty guess-work and research time out of it for you.
So what am I using now that Beautycounter is no more?
I have two brands I’ve been streamlining my body, face, make-up and personal care products from. Both are small businesses owned by Christian mothers. Anytime I can support women carrying out their mission and dream while supporting their family, it truly lights me up. I mention this because there are so many different brands to choose from, and a big part of my choosing to support these brands is because of the people behind them. Not only is their quality and ingredients great, but so is their mission and the people behind it.
Body Care Products for Busy, Natural-Minded Mamas
Let’s jump straight to it with my absolute favorite body care products. I LOVE the intentional packaging, color palate and design. Primally Pure focuses on soil to skin – creating nutrient-dense products that are good for our skin… and the earth.
I’ve been obsessed with this brand, their Christian founder and the regenerative farm to products processes they use. Sustainable, effective, naturally-derived ingredients. So good.
Here’s my favorites from Primally Pure:
- Baby Balm (use for cradle cap, rashes, dry skin patches, chapped lips)
- Soothing Serum (great after a day in the sun)
- Plumping Serum (retinol alternative safe to use anytime, BFing and pregnancy included)
- Cleansing Oil (actually hydrating way to melt makeup and dirt off your face – use every night!)
- Deodorant (charcoal is my favorite for reducing inflammation, allowing natural toxin release of sweat without feeling wet, sticky or noting any odor. gentle smell that feels great!)
- Antioxidant Balm (so soothing and healing for dry skin, rough patches or redness – also works great with facial cupping!)
- Everything Spray (acts as a toner after oil cleansing / prior to application of serum or balm)
- Use discount code DRKAYLA for 10% off ALL Primally Pure products – let me know how these feel for you over @drkaylaborchers!
As a busy mom who prioritizes clean products for my whole family, I love the catch-all use of the Baby Balm. The serums are such a treat each evening. After doing bath time for my kids, I oil cleanse my face and use one of the serums. It helps me enter “me time” and transition out of mom mode after a busy day.
Clean Make-Up for Busy Moms
This was my first nontoxic personal care switch back int 2017 when I got married and the thought of starting a family first entered my head. I used their make-up for awhile, then switched to Beautycounter just to mix it up. Well, now I’m back! Crunchi does a great job streamlining their products to be safe and effective clean beauty alternatives for busy moms.
Here’s my favorites from Crunchi:
- No. 1 Flat Top Brush (literally have used this since 2017 and it’s still going strong; use to apply foundation)
- Foundation (what I’ve switched back to now that my Beautycounter foundation has run out)
- Blush (love the ingredients they source; no worry of rubbing up on my littles cheeks and transferring anything harmful)

Facial Wellness Tools for the Busy Mama
These are a GAME CHANGER when it comes to easing fine lines, wrinkles and areas of tension (hello jaw pain or tension headaches). As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I’m obsessed with creating time for myofascial release at home.
Here’s how I do it for my face:
- Gua Sha
- Cupping
- Dry Brushing
- Use code DRKAYLA for 10% off all Primally Pure products – let me know how these feel for you!
Creating time for fascial wellness as a busy mom is not always easy, but it is always worth it! So how do I do it? By habit stacking my clean beauty routine after bedtime for my kiddos. I alternate between the above facial wellness tools throughout the weeks and truly notice a difference in my forehead lines when I do. It also feels SO good.
Why does Clean Beauty matter, anyways?
I dive into the WHY behind each of these and the specific chemicals we all want to watch out for within my Preconception Program. It’s located most heavily in this program due to the harmful effects on many synthetic ingredients on fertility and cycle health. This program is not only for those trying to conceive, but also for women wanting to optimize hormone health.
If you have irregular cycles and want a family “someday”, being mindful of what you put into and on your body can go a long way. I’ve created this program with busy, active women in mind. If you’re anything like me, having an hour to sit down and watch videos just isn’t feasible. That’s why this program was set up to deliver bite-sized, actionable information over the course of 6 weeks so you can actually act on what you learn and see its impact on your health right away.
As someone who struggled with cycle health throughout high school and college, taking a proactive approach preconception is near and dear to my heart. That’s why I advocate for brands such as these, and dive even deep into how to effectively and non-overwhelmingly make smart swaps throughout all aspects of our life.
