Postpartum Physical Therapy

Helping women rebuild pelvic floor and deep core foundations to optimize postpartum healing while safely returning to activities you love

Motherhood is a sport, let’s train for it

Our babies check-in with their pediatrician just two days after birth. After going through the transformative experience that is birth — why are mamas not assisted by a medical professional for their own healing until 6 weeks postpartum? You deserve better!

We see women as early as 2 weeks postpartum to begin reconnecting with your pelvic floor and deep core (both for vaginal and c-section births!). Your activity goals are addressed and we develop a plan to help you health, regain strength and return to the activities you LOVE postpartum.

You will work 1:1 with a Doctor of Physical Therapy specialized in Holistic Orthopedic and Pelvic Health. Dr. Kayla Borchers, founder and owner, is joined by Dr. Lauren Klosterman, PT, DPT, to provide individualized care plans across the women’s health lifespan.

Let's work together!

Ready to address the root cause of your symptoms and begin healing postpartum? We’re here to support you every step of the way — without bounce-back culture and with grace-filled guidance from your Holistic Orthopedic and Pelvic Health Physical Therapists.

Our office is located in downtown Sidney, Ohio, offering a boutique wellness setting that you will look forward to healing within. Virtual Physical Therapy appointments are also available in the comfort of your own home for Ohio residents.

Integrative Dry Needling

For the postpartum mother, Integrative Dry Needling may be used for common pain points that arise following delivery and with prolonged positioning, such as that required during feeding your infant. Dry needling is also very effective for reducing scar tissue from cesarean section births. This technique helps us target the eight layers of tissue that are cut through during an abdominal delivery.

If Integrative Dry Needling is not for you, cupping is another manual therapy technique that we often utilize and may recommend. There is no additional charge for treatment techniques implemented, all is included in your cost per session.

Dr. Borchers is so professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and kind!

I started to work with her when I was around seven months postpartum, and in the two months of working together, I truly saw and felt so much change in my core strength and wellbeing. She showed a lot of compassion and care, and when I demonstrated improvement, Dr. Borchers was genuinely excited. She loves what she does and that is to help people live healthier and better lives. I’m thankful to have her as a resource now!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I’m 2 weeks postpartum, is that too early?

Absolutely not! You can be seen as early as 2 weeks postpartum. We will not do any internal pelvic floor assessments. We will begin with light breathing and mobility exercises to reconnect with your pelvic floor and deep core to support your spine and pelvis as you are caring for your child. We will address any aches or pains you are currently experiencing and work to alleviate them within session and with home programming.

I’m 2 or more years postpartum, is that too late?

It is never too late to seek care to support postpartum healing. Once postpartum, always postpartum! We can still address c-section scar tissue, optimize pelvic and rib cage alignment and address strength imbalances to optimally support you and your lifestyle goals no matter where you are in your postpartum journey.

Do I need a referral?

No! A physician referral is not necessary for any of our services. We can schedule an appointment as soon as you are ready. However, I am happy to collaborate with any other healthcare professionals you are working with to ensure the best care possible for you.

Who will I work with?

You will work 1:1 with Dr. Kayla Borchers for the entirety of your appointment. We never double book appointment times, or alternate treatments with a PTA.

Do you accept my insurance?

We are an out of network provider. This means that we do not directly bill or accept insurance. However, we will provide you with a Superbill, which you can submit to your insurance company directly for coverage of some if not all of your PT services, particularly if you have a PPO plan.

How do I file for insurance reimbursement?

You can easily determine your out of network Physical Therapy benefits by calling the phone number on the back of your insurance card. Following each appointment, we will send you a Superbill with all of the information you need to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Do you accept FSA/HSA?

Yes! Simply input this as your payment method when scheduling your appointment.

Can I bring my child with me?

Children are always welcome during your scheduled appointment time with Dr. Kayla. It is up to you if you would prefer solo treatment time or if it’s best to bring your child(ren) along! I do keep some toys on hand for your little ones, as I know how much I appreciate this as a parent!

Are there additional charges for Integrative Dry Needling?

Nope! All modalities recommended for use within your treatment session are included with fee for service at time of booking. No additional fees are added for treatment options such as Dry Needling.
